About Albertus Magnus College

Historic Timeline

1924: The Dominican Congregation of Saint Mary of the Springs purchased an estate in New Haven, Connecticut, and to founded a women's college.

1925: The first classes at Albertus Magus College were held in Rosary Hall.

1985: Albertus Magnus College became co-educational and also the Continuing Education Division expanded its offerings

1992: Albertus Magnus College offered its first graduate program, the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies. Since then, the College has added four other graduate programs: Master of Science in Management; Master of Arts in Art Therapy (the only degree of its kind in Connecticut) and, in New Haven and Hartford, classes for the Master of Business Administration.

1994: The development of the accelerated degree program, the New Dimensions Program was introduced.  This program is an alternative educational system focused on business for the adult learner. This program has grown to include undergraduate and graduate courses.

2005: Albertus Magnus College received approval from the State of Connecticut for a new Master of Arts in Leadership. Albertus Magnus has grown to enrollment of 2,400 students – nearly 500 students in the traditional program, and 900 students in the adult undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
